As her daddy’s favorite punching bag, Chris Chambers grew up with no illusions of the evil inside a mind, which most certainly includes her own. At the age of seventeen she took control of her life, and nearly ten years later that control is what keeps her going.

The destruction at job sites was something he could pass off as accidents, but when he receives a death threat, Aiden Wolfe knows it is serious. Hiring the best private investigators he can find, Aiden’s guilt over putting others in danger once again rears its ugly head.

After a stint in the army, Chris uses every skill she learned to become a first class P.I., and her job is the only thing that saves her sanity, but this case is threatening even that. Her client only needs to look at her, and her precious control is shot to hell. Aiden wants no more pain or death on his conscience, but the person targeting him is intent on doing just that, and Aiden is only part of the equation. Chris and Aiden try desperately to keep her team together, but this is one killer with an inside tract, and the harder they fight, the tighter the net closes around them.

Read this novel and see if you can honestly answer the question of what it would take to make you a killer, because no matter how righteous you think you are, everyone has a breaking point. For the protagonist in this story, I believe it is a lifetime of feeling defeated, and having known so little love in his life that losing any amount of that is horribly devastating. As for Chris and Aiden, I feel they could very easily have succumbed to the same fate, but instead turned their fears and anger inward, blaming themselves and putting up walls to keep others out. Put yourself in their place as tides of emotional and psychological warfare wash over them and really experience how their feelings for each other may be their only chance for survival.
